General information

The data acquisition work package within the Particle Detectors FP7 project project is concerned with the development of novel DAQ systems. This activity is twofold: it is conected to the other work packages that follow technology development of the diamond and silicon detectors, as well as to the development of DAQ for detectors at large international facilities.

The purpose of this workshop is to give an overview and a practical intruduction of modern DAQ systems and related hardware. The focus is on developments related to future FAIR facility in Darmstadt, Germany, for which novel DAQ systems are being developed. The skills gained should be of use in all modern large particle and nuclear experiments.

A topic of special intrest is the deployment of FPGA hardware for different applications. These versitile devices allow one to use the same boards for different applications i.e. processing of data, and are the heart of the data acquistion of most modern detectors.
